Mani to give up booze for The Stone Roses tour
Bassist Gary Mounfield, otherwise known as Mani, has said he is giving up alcohol before The Stone Roses tour to avoid a repeat of a previous drunken mishap.
He was nearly unable to go on stage at the Leeds Festival in 2006 when playing with Primal Scream because he had gone overboard on the booze.
"It ended with me getting arrested on the day of the gig," he told the Sun. "After a lie-down in the cell, I was driven to the gig in cuffs. They came off just before we went on."
This adds to a number of signs that giving a great show to The Stone Roses tickets holders is something close to Mani's heart.
After the band's reunion was announced, friend Paul Weller told Shortlist magazine the bassist had been hoping the group would get back together for years.
Meanwhile, the Sun reported Mani is also eating 12 bananas a day to keep him fit for the tour.
