Manics planning anti-jubilee concert
The Manic Street Preachers have said they intend to take a year off from touring after playing in front of fans with T in the Park tickets this weekend.
However, they will be making one exception to the rule in June 2012 with a one-off concert around the time of Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee.
It's not intended to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the monarch's accession to the throne. Instead, the band are planning the gig as a protest.
Bassist Nicky Wire said the thinks the world has become "saturated" with the Royal Family this year.
"So there'll be one gig, just to avoid having to listen to Prince Philip for an hour," he remarked.
The Diamond Jubilee celebrations will take place over an extended weekend from June 2nd to 5th next year.
Meanwhile, the Manic Street Preachers will be taking to the main stage at T in the Park on Saturday July 9th, alongside acts like N-Dubz, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Beyonce and headliners Coldplay.
