Matt Stevens enjoying competition in England's front row
Sports fans with England rugby internationals tickets will be able to see the likes of Matt Stevens and his fellow front-row forwards trying to impress manager Martin Johnson ahead of the World Cup.
Stevens revealed that competition in the squad is currently extremely high, particularly at the front of the scrum.
The 28-year-old has had a good year so far, enjoying a 19-game unbeaten run with Premiership champions Saracens and England Saxons in the Churchill Cup.
If he manages to secure a place in the national squad for the World Cup, it will mark an impressive return from an enforced ban following a positive drugs test.
Speaking in the Rugby Football Union's latest podcast, Stevens said: "I've been lucky to be in teams with real pedigree since I've been back. If picked for the World Cup, then of course I want my unbeaten run to continue and [to] help England go as far as possible.
"There's a lot of competition for places in the front row, but that only makes the strength in depth better. Competition is everything - we all want to be better players."
England will prepare for the World Cup with two international matches against Wales on August 6th and 13th.
