McLaren-Mercedes 'determined to finish top of the pile in Turkey'

McLaren-Mercedes will be heading into the Turkish Grand Prix this month with renewed vigour following disappointing outings in Spain and Monaco for Lewis Hamilton and Jensen Button respectively.

Hamilton was unable to finish the Spanish Grand Prix at the beginning of May after an accident on the 64th lap, despite a promising start that saw him third on the grid.

A week later in Monte Carlo, Button was forced to retire on just the second lap due to an engine failure.

Looking to the upcoming event at Istanbul Park, which is due to take place on May 30th, McLaren team principal Martin Whitmarsh said the constructor is hoping to "once again race at the front".

"The circuit has also been resurfaced ahead of this year’s race, so we’re expecting a return to the race pace we showed in places like Barcelona and Shanghai," he said.

McLaren-Mercedes currently sit third in the constructor table, while Button and Hamilton are fourth and seventh respectively in the driver standings.
