McLaren boss: It would be unwise to write off Lewis and Jenson
The boss of the McLaren F1 team Martin Whitmarsh has warned rivals it would be "unwise" to write off the team's drivers in this season's championship battle.
Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button have fallen behind in their pursuit of championship leader Mark Webber and are now 28 and 31 point off the pace respectively with just three races remaining.
However, team principal Whitmarsh believes both drivers have the skill and experience to close the gap.
"With three races remaining, and 75 points on the table for the drivers, it would be unwise to write off Jenson, Lewis or McLaren," he said.
"Both drivers have won world championships before - they understand the difficulties of such a unique situation, and both have learned how to deliver their best under high pressure. They will be ready for this battle."
The next race of the 2010 Formula One season is the Korean Grand Prix on October 24th.
