McLarens top in Turkish Grand Prix practice

Button and Hamilton hoping for victory in Turkey

McLaren drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton have raised supporters' hopes of seeing the two Brits achieving success at this weekend's Turkish Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time in the first practice session today (May 28th).

However, he was overshadowed by his teammate Button in the afternoon session as the reigning world champion posted an unbeaten one minute and 28.280.

This put him ahead of Red Bull rivals Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel, as well as Hamilton who was fourth fastest.

However, Button remained realistic about his chances of outpacing the Red Bulls come the main event on Sunday.

He told AFP: "Don't be fooled by that! The Red Bulls are much quicker than they show - so it's a normal Friday. You don't catch up a second in a couple of weeks.

"For me, the car feels reasonably good around here - there are still some areas where we're not so strong, but I think we have a chance."

Following the Turkish Grand Prix, Formula One heads to Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix on June 13th.
