Metallica to play Black Album at Download Festival

Metallica tickets will soon be available for their performance at next year's Download Festival, at which they will play The Black Album in its entirety.

The event will be on between June 8th and 10th 2012 and will also see newly reunited rockers Black Sabbath take the stage.

Metallica will be headlining the second day of the festival, which is held at Donington Park, Leicestershire.

On their website, the band said they were asked to do something special during their stint at the event, which celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2012.

"The dudes who run it asked us how we felt about playing The Black Album in its entirety and we thought: 'Hold on, that could be really cool'," they stated, explaining the record will have been out for almost exactly 20 years at the time of the show.

People who want to grab tickets to see the Metallica Download Festival gig can buy them from 09:00 GMT on Friday November 18th.

Black Sabbath, who announced they had got back together just a few days ago, will be headlining the final day of the event.
