New bridge completed in time for start of Latitude festival
Music-lovers with Latitude tickets will be able to enjoy not only dozens of world-class acts at the festival, but also a brand new bridge.
With thousands of revellers set to descend on Hexham Park, Southwold, over the next few days, festival bosses are celebrating the completion of a new, permanent bridge.
The new structure has replaced a series of floating bridges, installed over recent years to allow festival-goers to cross a lake and visit different fields on the site.
Notably, it has been called the Writer's Bridge in recognition that it's not only music groups that entertain those with Latitude tickets.
"I've called it the Writer's Bridge because poetry and literature are very much at the heart of Latitude," explained Melvin Benn, managing director of organisers Festival Republic.
Among the non-musical acts due to appear over the course of the weekend are actor Ralph Fiennes, who is also currently celebrating the release of the final Harry Potter movie, in which he features.
