Nickelback named Billboard band of the decade

Nickelback will play two arena concerts in the UK in January

Canadian rockers Nickelback have been named as the band of the decade by US magazine Billboard.

The result was based on the band's performance across Billboard's US music sales charts for singles and albums, the Billboard 100 and the Billboard 200, from December 4th 1999 to November 28th 2009.

Although Nickelback finished seventh overall, all those ahead of them are solo artists, making them the most successful band, with Destiny's Child their closest competitor in ninth place.

According to the magazine, Nickelback have had six top ten singles during the noughties, including the top ranking rock song of the decade, How You Remind Me.

They have also had their last four albums reach the top ten on the Billboard 200, including All the Right Reasons, which spent 156 weeks on the list.

The biggest selling artist of the decade went to Eminem, with Beyonce the highest ranking female in fourth place.

Nickelback will be coming to the UK in January for two arena gigs. The band will play Liverpool's Echo Arena on January 17th and Wembley Arena in London on the 19th.
