Northampton look to complete remarkable turnaround with Heineken Cup win

Northampton play in this year's Heineken Cup final

If Northampton were to claim victory in front of those with Heineken Cup final tickets this weekend, it would mark the completion of a remarkable turnaround for the club, centre Jon Clarke has said.

Just four years ago, the Saints fell to their lowest ebb in the club's history when they were relegated to the second tier of English rugby.

However, in the years that followed, Northampton claimed the Division One trophy followed by an Amlin Challenge Cup win and an LV= Cup triumph in successive years.

They now find themselves on the verge of claiming European rugby's biggest prize - the Heineken Cup.

"From Division One, you'd never have said we'd be looking at a Heineken Cup Final in four years. But we've been building. We took every trophy we could and competed in every competition. We've kinda just gone one better each year, and here we are," Clarke told ercrugby.com.

"But it's not finished yet, we're still looking to go higher. You could almost say it's built towards this opportunity."

Northampton play Leinster in the Heineken Cup final on Saturday, May 21st at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
