Peter Kay tour smashes box office records
Stand-up funny man Peter Kay's 'Tour that Doesn't Tour is continuing its record breaking run, making him the fastest selling live comedy act ever.
After selling out 20 nights in Manchester, Kay has added shows in London, Cardiff, Sheffield, Glasgow, Birmingham, Newcastle, Belfast and Liverpool.
Tickets for the eight new arena shows went on sale on Saturday December 5th and by 2pm more than 400,000 seats had been sold, bringing the total to 600,000 sold including Manchester.
"I couldn't comprehend the demand in Manchester but this is amazing," said Kay. "I'm completely overwhelmed. I'm going to give people a cracking night."
Sales from the tour are beating out other best selling artists including Take That, Oasis and Kylie Minogue.
The comedian's tour was originally scheduled for four nights in Manchester, but frenzy over tickets reportedly convinced Kay to come back for the extra 20 nights in April and May.
