Peter Kay's single set to top the charts
The charity single released by Peter Kay for Children in Need looks to be heading for the number one spot in the charts this week.
As of Wednesday (November 25th) Peter Kay's Animated All Star Band had outsold current number one, You Are Not Alone by the X Factor finalists, by 68,997 copies to 45,450, the Sun reported.
Comedian Kay's single features over 100 children's cartoon characters, such as Bob the Builder and Postman Pat, "singing" along to a medley of hits.
The song went straight to the top of the iTunes video chart after being released on download at the weekend, and was released in shops on Monday (November 22nd).
It is not the first time that Kay has gone head-to-head with the X Factor in the charts. Last year he released a spoof X Factor single called The Winners Song, drawing criticism from Simon Cowell.
"Simon had some harsh words to say last time but he did e-mail to apologise. He said he was sorry he got so precious about it all and he did find the funny side of it after," Kay told the Daily Star this week.
Next year Peter Kay will play a 20 night residency at Manchester's MEN starting on April 27th. Tickets are available now at www.viagogo.co.uk.
