PiL more 'in-depth' than Sex Pistols, says Lydon
John Lydon has backed Public Image Ltd (PiL) over his old band the Sex Pistols as they address deeper issues than the punk trailblazers.
In an interview with the Scotsman newspaper, Lydon said the Sex Pistols were a brilliant band but that PiL, the band he formed after the Pistols split, has a more in-depth approach to music.
"It's self-investigation, feelings and emotions," he said.
Lydon also claimed that the current line-up of PiL, has a perfect composition of personalities.
"This is the best gel of personalities for the music," said Lydon. "Out of all the people I have worked with, Lu (Edmonds) and Bruce (Smith) are closest to the work we will be doing"
Despite is volatile reputation, Lydon said he was not a difficult person to get on with and that he enjoyed the company of a variety of groups of people.
"There is no group of people who deliberately make their lives vile and unbearable and awful. Well, except the Goths," he said.
PiL are currently on tour in the UK. Tickets are still available at www.viagogo.co.uk for their gigs on the December 21st, 22nd and 23rd.
