Pink to play Sunderland
Tickets will go on sale this week to pop star Pink's gig in Sunderland after the singer announced she will begin her UK summer tour at the city's Stadium of Light.
The Funhouse star will take to the stage in Wearside on June 11th, before heading onto six other locations around the country.
With a capacity of 49,000, the stadium, home to the Sunderland football team, has held some impressively large gigs in the past, including last summer's performances from Oasis and Take That.
Steve Walton, Sunderland AFC chief executive, claimed securing the opening night of Pink's tour was a major coup for club and the region.
"It underlines the Stadium of Light's growing reputation as a key concert venue in the north of England.
"We demonstrated last year just how well we could adapt this to accommodate some of the biggest names in the music industry so we're delighted with what we've been able to achieve again this year," he said.
Pink will also be playing the Wireless Festival in London's Hyde Park on July 2nd.
