Pizzorno talks about album title inspiration
Thursday, 12 November 2009

Serge Pizzorno from Kasabian has spoken about how the name for the band's latest album came about.
In an interview with the Telegraph, Pizzorno revealed the name, West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum, came from a documentary.
"I caught the end of a documentary about a Victorian mental institution in West Yorkshire and I wrote the words on the studio walls," he said.
"It reminded me of the greatest psychedelic albums. It was about the freedom of madness and how music's a form of madness."
Pizzorno also noted that the music industry has changed substantially since the 90s, and claimed that he didn't know if the kind of "mass hysteria" that surrounded artists such as Oasis can be repeated.
Kasabian have just begun a tour of the UK.
Starting in Scotland, the tour will take in a number of locations including London's Wembley Arena on November 14th and 15th and Birmingham's NIA Academy on November 19th.
The tour is set to wind up at the Bournemouth International Centre on November 25th.
