Prepare for a more comfortable Isle of Wight Festival
Love your tent, sign up for respect and hire a tipi - these are among the suggestions Isle of Wight Festival organisers have made for attendees to be more comfortable over the concert weekend.
The event has teamed up with the Eco Action Partnership to urge music lovers to reuse their sleeping quarters this year.
One in six people left their tents on site in 2011, it was claimed, with 152.62 tonnes of the products as well as camping equipment and gazebos discarded, accounting for a quarter of the festival's total landfill waste.
The campaign to Love Your Tent will help reduce the impact of the event on the environment and those who are particularly interested in this issue and want to have a comfortable weekend can also book to stay in the Respect field.
After signing up to the ten eco-friendly Tent Commandments, individuals will be able to sleep alongside others who have promised to keep the area clean and tidy.
Families have also been urged to reserve a space in the festival's children-friendly camping area, while other efforts to make the event a pleasure for all include hiring classy toilet cabins, while visitors can rent less basic accommodation.
Both tipis and podpads are available for attendees who want a unique experience, or they can book a camping package with Tangerine Fields to have access to a pre-erected tent and hot showers .
The Isle of Wight Festival 2012 line-up includes headliners Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Pearl Jam and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
