Public Image Ltd to re-issue Metal Box
Public Image Ltd are to release a special edition of their 1979 album 'Metal Box' to coincide with the start of their UK tour in December.
The album will be re-mastered for the release and for the first time will be available as a three-CD set.
Alongside 'Metal Box', a 64-track, four-CD version dubbed 'Plastic Box' will be released. As well as the full album, it will include PiL rarities such as the recordings from their John Peel sessions.
'Metal Box' broke music conventions when it was released 30 years-ago as a collection of three, 12-inch records inside a circular tin box and with no track listings.
The news comes after PiL front man, former sex pistol John Lydon, announced that the band would record new material following their tour, providing they raise enough money.
Lydon also revealed in recent weeks that the financing for the current tour came directly from his appearances on adverts for Country Life butter.
The new editions will be released on December 14th with the band's tour kicking off at the O2 Academy in Birmingham on December 15th.
