Radiohead music used on Maldives documentary
While fans await news on the forthcoming Radiohead tour, they may enjoy a new documentary on which the band's music has been used.
Frontman Thom Yorke posted a message on the group's website yesterday (January 23rd) about the flick, which is called The Island President.
The film follows the story of Mohamed Nasheed, leader of the Maldives, as he attempts to represent the interests of his nation in the international climate change debate.
"Unless something is done to stop rising sea levels they will lose everything," Yorke explained. "The country will be under water."
As many as 11 Radiohead songs were featured in the movie, including Kid A, Hunting Bears, Morning Bell, House of Cards, Tree Fingers, Optimistic, Electioneering and How to Disappear Completely.
Meanwhile, ambient outfit Stars of the Lid have also contributed to the soundtrack, with tunes such as Sun Drugs and Down II.
The Island President won the People's Choice Award for Best Documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival, was included in the Official Selection at the Telluride Film Festival and will be shown at Sundance Film Festival this week.
People seeking Radiohead tickets may not be surprised by the singer's backing of the movie, as he has previously been outspoken in his support for a move to a greener economy.
