Recession inspired The Script
Ticket holders to the upcoming UK shows of Irish band The Script will be able to hear a song inspired by the recession.
For the First Time, which appears on new album Science & Faith, was written about the hard-hitting effects of the economic downturn, reports the Daily Star.
Band bassist Mark Sheehan explained how after finishing their world tour, the group returned to Dublin to find that many friends had lost their jobs.
He told the news provider: "We had all this success and went back thinking we wanted to celebrate with all of our mates, who told us to 'get a f***ing real job'.
"We couldn't share our experiences as our friends had lost their jobs.
"It inspired a song about how we stripped all the material things back and started connecting with each other again."
The trio are now set to play a number of gigs across the UK beginning in September.
They kick off their tour in Liverpool on the 11th after which they will visit Leeds, London and Edinburgh.
