Russian communists call for Sting's arrest
A group of Russian communists have demanded that authorities in the country arrest the singer Sting because of his views on drugs.
The former Police frontman is currently in the country as part of his new world tour.
While he has received a warm welcome from fans and ticket holders to his shows, a group called the Communists of Petersburg and the Leningrad Region have been upset by remarks he made on his blog earlier this year that suggested marijuana should be legalised.
"In April 2010, Mister Sting publicly called for 'the worldwide legalisation of marijuana'", the group said in a statement.
"Not only communists, but everyone in favour of a healthy way of life, the strengthening of our nation's culture and tradition must understand that such a figure, however talented screaming teens may consider him, cannot appear on stage in the Russian Federation."
Sting plays a number of UK shows as part of his current world tour, starting at the Royal Albert Hall on October 1st.
