Stone Roses reunion all down to David Beckham?
The Stone Roses tickets were snapped up in minutes by excited fans when the band announced they would play comeback gigs next year - and it may be the case that David Beckham can be thanked for the reunion.
Having lived in Manchester himself, the celebrity footballer has always been a big fan of the group, a source close to the sportsman told the Sun.
The insider added that Becks spoke to both bassist Gary 'Mani' Mounfield and frontman Ian Brown about getting back together and was prepared to beg them to do so.
"David heard there was a chance the ice was thawing between Ian and guitarist John Squire and he got involved," the source told the newspaper.
Indeed, it may have been a surprise to some fans that The Stone Roses reunion tour was announced at all, seeing as the boys split acrimoniously in the 90s and it was known Squire and Brown had fallen out.
Tickets for the three shows the band will play in Manchester's Heaton Park next year are now sold out, with all 220,000 spaces booked up in 68 minutes, which could mean there will be great competition to grab any spare passes to the concerts.
