T in the Park wins green award
People who get their hands on T in the Park 2012 tickets this December may need to ensure they live up to environmentally-friendly standards, as the festival has been rewarded for its green efforts.
The Scottish event was commended for thinking about the effect of its operations on the natural world and trying to reduce its negative impact.
Ben Challis, co-founder of A Greener Festival, which offered the prize, particularly noted the fact there was a reduction in the use of cars among ticket holders.
Meanwhile, T in the Park pointed out it made an effort to minimise its carbon footprint, put waste and recycling schemes in place, as well as organised traffic plans.
James Drury, managing director of the UK Festival Awards, said: "Festivals can have an important impact on people's opinions and it's inspiring to see how many lead by example on green issues."
People who want to help the event continue its good work may be careful not to leave anything behind at the site in 2012, as Mr Challis criticised the amount of waste left by the audience.
T in the Park tickets will be available from 09:00 GMT on December 2nd after a presale on November 30th.
