The Script humbled by U2 comparison
Irish band The Script have said they find comparisons to their countrymen U2 "humbling".
The group have won plaudits after their debut LP achieved success on both sides of the Atlantic.
However, in an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post, guitarist Mark Sheehan said any similarities with U2 are superficial.
"As humbling as it is, how can anybody say that?" He said.
"The fact that we are Irish and carry instruments is the reason why we are compared with U2. I guess you could say we are the biggest band in Ireland to sell records generally since The Corrs or The Cranberries."
Despite the title of their new album Science and Faith, the band also revealed that they avoid addressing the subjects of politics and religion in their songs.
"They're conversation-stoppers. We tend to write songs with a social conscience, about our lives," Sheehan told the news provider.
The Script play a number of UK gigs later this year, starting at Liverpool University on September 11th.
