Trulli: One day Lotus will win
New Formula One team Lotus will win a grand prix someday, the team's driver has said.
Italian Jarno Trulli has backed comments made by the team owner Tony Fernandes by predicting Lotus will at some point become a power in Formula One.
Trulli, who was forced to retire on the final lap of the team's debut in Bahrain, said: "I'm really happy and proud for the team because, in six months, every single target we have fixed we have met so it's really good. As Tony said, one day Lotus will win and I hope to be here when we do."
Despite Trulli's disappointing end to the race, his teammate Heikki Kovalainen did manage to complete the 49 laps, finishing in 15th place.
That meant Lotus was the only one of the three new teams, which also includes Virgin and HRT, to get a driver past the chequered flag in Bahrain.
The Formula One world championship now moves on to the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne for which qualifying starts on March 27th.
