We can beat Red Bull in Canada, says Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton has revealed he is confident that the McLaren team can outdo title rivals Red Bull at this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.
The Formula One ace believes that the Montreal circuit, with its long straights, is better suited to the McLaren cars.
"This is a circuit where perhaps there is less opportunity for the advantage of Red Bull. On turns four, seven and nine, the Red Bull will be quite strong on those exits but otherwise we should be strong on the straights," he commented.
The Red Bulls have generally been faster than the McLarens so far this season. But due to reliability issues and poor tactical decisions, the Woking-based team is ahead in the constructors' championship.
However, Red Bull's Mark Webber is still top of the drivers' standings, and Hamilton hopes he can close the gap in Montreal, a circuit where he has performed well in the past.
"It is a bit of a street circuit which I go quite well on. I've just always been able to dial the car in quite well here and it suited my driving style," he said.
The Canadian Formula One Grand Prix gets underway on Sunday, June 13th.
