Whoopi Goldberg set to join Sister Act
Those who want to see Whoopi Goldberg back in the habit at the London Palladium theatre should be advised to buy tickets as the show is fast approaching.
Goldberg will be playing the role of Mother Superior rather than Deloris Van Cartier, the character that she played in the 1992 film.
The actress is set to perform 23 shows between August 10th and 31st despite saying she would not be involved in the musical when it opened in May 2009.
She told the Telegraph: "Are you nuts? I can't do eight shows a week of anything. And it's written for people who can actually sing."
However, the show's co-producer changed her mind, which was welcomed by show producer Bill Taylor.
He said: "Now, back in her habit and on stage with our company at the beautiful Palladium, theatregoers get to see a comedy legend at work.
"To say the Sister Act family is excited might be something of an understatement!"
Whoopi Goldberg's film career took off after playing Celie in Steven Spielberg's The Colour Purple, a role for which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress.
