Wood could miss out on Heineken Cup final
Northampton flanker Tom Wood may not be fit in time to play in front of those with Heineken Cup final tickets.
The Aviva Premiership player of the year has been sleeping in an oxygen tent in the hope of speeding up his recovering from a hairline leg fracture and has recently returned to light training.
However, Northampton director of rugby Jim Mallinder has said he is not confident the England star will be ready for the Millennium Stadium showdown with Leinster.
"We will see. He's now jogging around but whether it might be one week too early, we don't know," he told the Press Association.
Northampton, who have not won the Heineken Cup since 2000, saw their Premiership campaign come to an end on Saturday (May 14th) when they fell to an 11-3 defeat to Leicester.
"Now, it is very simple - it's about one game of rugby, and we don't want to have played all this good rugby this season and come out of it with nothing," said Mallinder.
The Heineken Cup final takes place at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on May 21st.
