Formed in 1998 the band consists of Matt Tuck (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Michael Paget (lead guitar), Jason James (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Michael Thomas (drums). They started off under the name Jeff Killed John and started their careers covering songs by Metallica and Nirvana. Bullet for My Valentine's debut album The Poison, was release on October 3, 2005 to little fanfare but Bullet for my Valentine’s next two albums would appear at number 2 and number 3 on the billboard charts as the band’s popularity spread throughout the world thanks to incredible live gigs and festival appearances.
