Tri Nations is an international Rugby Union competition that is contested each year by Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. These three teams that make up the Tri Nations competition have dominated the international Rugby scene in recent years. The Tri Nations competition is highly regarded as one of the toughest competitions in Rugby Union today. The series is played on a home-and-away basis. From the first tournament in 1996 through 2005, the three teams played each other twice.
